Easter, Valentine’s Day and Halloween all leave me asking myself the same question, “What the heck am I going to do with all this candy?”. Most years sadly, a lot of it ends up going in the trash. I know, you’re thinking what a waste. Since I agree with you, this year I’ve decided to try to come up with some creative ways to use the candy before it goes bad. PEEPS are first up, since they are the first to go stale. This one is pretty simple, but sometimes simple is best. Instead of putting marshmallows in your next cup of hot chocolate, float a PEEP. Not only does it look cute, but it tastes really good. If your like me and don’t like your PEEPS straight up (too sugary) this is a great alternative way to eat them. They’ll melt down into your cocoa and give it a nice creamy texture. Other ideas include, using them to make Smores or Rice Krispie treats, and cutting them into small pieces and putting them on a sandwich with peanut butter. I’m pretty sure allowing my kids to do that last idea, disqualifies me for the “mom of the year” award, but I score major points with the kids and it’s their opinions that really matter. “Bribe them with sugar” I say, it works every time!

That’s adorable! I’m not a big fan of PEEPS, but that makes me want one!
Well, that is such a great idea! It makes me want to keep Peeps around all the time……….guests will think you are the MARTHA STEWART of Hot Chocolate.

“I’m melting! I’m melting! Ooohh I’m mellll….” lol Sorry – had to be the one to say it…lol. LOVE the idea though! We’re not allowed to have peeps in our house. But we’ll save the reason why for another day…lol. Don’t worry, it’s a funny story.
